Essential Oils For Facial Saunas

aromatherapy.jpgEssential Oils are used for so many wonderful things. Below you'll find recipes for facial saunas/steams that you can easily do at home to compliment your current facial cleansing regime.

For Normal Skin combine 3 drops lavender or geranium or rose essential oil with 1-1/2 quarts boiling water. Boil the water first into a large bowl and then add your 3 drops of the essential oil you desire (lavender oil or geranium oil). Make a towel tent over your head and the bowl with a large towel to capture the steam. Lift the towel as necessary to regulate the temperature. Stay under the towel for 10 minutes to allow the steam to cleanse your pores. Rinse your face with water and follow with a mild facial scrub or even a herbal facial mask for a truely cleansing and luxurious experience.

For Oily Skin combine 3 drops cypress or cedar wood or lavender essential oil with 1-1/2 quarts boiling water. Follow the same steps as above.

For Dry Skin combine 3 drops chamomile or sandalwood or rose essential oil with 1-1/2 quarts boiling water. Follow the same steps as above.

Essential oils have a wonderful fragrance and are beneficial for your skin. Enjoy your essential oil facial saunas!

Aromatherapy & Love

Well, it's almost that time again, the time of year when love is in the air. And it can be literaly. One of the most romantic ways to express love and encourage those romantic feelings is through aromatherapy. Certain fragrances have shown to be aphrodisiacs.

There are two ways to use aromatherapy and essential oils for romance. The first is through aromatherapy alone. A few simple drops of the certain essential oils in a diffuser can fill a room with the scents of  Ylang Ylang, Rose, Patchouli, Sandalwood & Palmarosa. Some oils can be placed directly on the skin and some are better served in a diffuser or burner.  Make sure to read the directions carefully before applying any essential oil to your skin. Sometimes oils are combined with base oils, like grapeseed oil, almond oil, & Jojoba Oils, etc,  to create special Aroma Oil blends. These oil blends can be placed directly on the skin, clothing, sheets, and diffusers. The oils are blended for different purposes, some relieve stress and aid in calming and soothing, others for easing slumber and meditation, and some that enhance sensual and sexual feelings.

Another wonderful way inspire a sense of romance is through a sensual massage. My three favorite passion inspiring scents are Ylang Ylang, Patchouli and Rose. These oils can be purchased individually, or in a wonderful kit - the Lover's Essential Oil Kit.

Let's not forget the power of candles. There is something inherently romantic about candlelight. We encourage you to use natural soy candles any time or day to inspire and enlighten your senses, ecpecially in as romantic way.

All the oils recommended are always of the highest quality and exceptional prices. There are many different aromatherapy gift ideas from essential oils, candles, natural skin care, etc. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Namaste.

Beating the After Holidays Winter Blues

The gifts have been given, the tree and decorations put away, and the guests have all gone home - hopefully. Now, the after-holidays winter blues set in. We are all back in the grind of everyday life. Instead of letting this grey mundane time get you down, we have some wonderful aromatherapy suggestions.

As you sit in front of your computer monitor plugging away, the least you can do is inspire and awaken your senses. Adding some simple essential oil fragrances to your everyday surroundings can help calm and soothe even the worst of moods. Using candles or essential oil diffusers are a great way to disperse these wonderful aromas at home or at work.

Start with these three popular scents:
- Lavender is one of the oldest essential oils and helps provide a sense of calm and balance.
- Jasmine is known as a great anti-depressant and aphrodisiac.
- Rosemary blends well with other essential oils and its properties provide relief from mental fatigue.

Enjoy your new year. May aromatherapy inspire your days and ease your nights. Namaste.
